President Kagame excited with Arsenal’s win over Napoli

PRESIDENT Paul Kagame is excited after English club Arsenal beat Italy’s Napoli in Uefa Champions League on Tuesday to maintain their return to winning ways this season.

Mesut Ozil scored his first goal since his £42m move from Real Madrid and created Olivier Giroud’s second in the 2-0 victory that puts Arsenal top of Group F after two wins.

Ozil has made 15 assists in the Champions League since August 2010, more than any other player in the competition in that time.

After the game, President Kagame said on his twitter, “Enjoyed watching game at Emirates. Congratulations #AWenger & Arsenal. Back to winning ways of old & beautiful game!

The recent signing of Ozil has boosted Arsenal’s chance of staging a brilliant performance this season after years of dismal performances that left many fans frustrated.

Last year, Wenger was under fire as Kagame threw his weight behind disgruntled Gunners fans calling on the Frenchman to leave the Emirates.

Wenger’s inability to address his side’s defensive woes was already testing fans’ patience, but the manager’s decision to send out-of-sorts Andriy Arshavin on for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who had made a sparkling start to the Barclays Premier League game – turned the crowd against the Frenchman.

Wenger has coached Arsenal since 1996, but he has gone six years without a major trophy and his aura is fading after previously being feted as the North London club’s greatest boss.

But the bright start to this season’s league keeps Arsenal in favorite seat to win the 2013/14 Barclays English Premier League title as well as the Uefa Champions League.

Last week, Arsenal inched clear at the top of the Premier League after Man United crashed at home to West Brom and Man City lost at Aston Villa.
