The Rwanda National Youth Council has announced that Rural youths in Nyagatare district have emerged as the best in implementing the set performance contracts for 2012-2013.
The district scored an overwhelming 99.44 percent; beating 30 districts, making a stunning difference after being listed in the last position in the previous performance contracts for the year 2011-2012.
According to the coordinator of National Youth Council in Nyagatare Alexis Musoni, the good results were attained due to joint efforts between the youth and the district authorities.
“We worked with all youth, especially those participating in national service ‘Urugerero’ to help achieve everything with support from district’s leaders,” said Musoni.
The performance contracts of 2012-2013 signed between the coordinator of National Youth Council at National level and the youth representatives in the districts had intention to empower the young people both socially and economically.
The other winners in chronological order were all rural district in the countryside. These include: Bugesera district with 99.25 percent, Rutsiro 97 percent, and Burera 96.09 per cent.
The first four winners were awarded laptops, internet modems, and recognition certificates for each. Nyagatare district received a trophy as the winner.
The Youth Member of Parliament, Philbert Uwiringiyimana, said that this was a good example and urged the youth to be responsible to achieve the good results from their performance contracts and strive to achieve excellence in each district.
He also encouraged the poorly performing district to improve their ratings in the next performance contracts.
