The Rwanda Police and the Korea International Agency (KOICA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in various policing fields.
The agreement was signed early this week between the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana and Mr. Kim Sang-Chul, KOICA Resident Representative at the police headquarters in Kacyiru.
The partnership will mainly focus on training police officers in specific domains such as engineering, road safety, technical and vocational training and public order management.Other areas include Information Technology (IT) and agriculture.
According to Gasana the cooperation between the two institutions will strengthen human security, which is one of the force’s priorities.
Capacitating the force, he added, is the force’s central role to further ensure a crime-free environment for all.
Kim lauded Rwanda National Police for its significant role in national security and actively taking part in the country’s development.
Mr. Kim observed that the Rwanda Police has not only excelled in the country, but has also become a role model in the region and beyond.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rwanda National Police to increase security in the country.
According to the spokesperson of the RNP ACP Damas Gatare, KOICA will also provide the much insight in curbing cyber crimes committed on the internet.

KOICA has been supporting Rwanda in promotion of IT and also participates in many developmental projects especially funding projects in Education and Agriculture.
