Germany boosts Rwanda’s TVET

The Minister of Finance Claver Gatete and Amb Fahrenholtz signing the fund MoU

Rwanda has received a €18 million (approximately Rwf15 Billion) fund from German to promote technical institutions (TVET). A part of the fund was accorded to developing decentralisation and good governance projects.

According to Peter Fahrenholtz the ambassador of Germany to Rwanda, this aid is an appreciation of Rwanda’s economic development.

The aid was received on this Wednesday as a sign of good relations between Rwanda and Germany.

“German takes pride in Supporting Rwanda to develop. Rwanda is an outstanding nation in Africa, in fighting corruption and implementing economic development while promoting people’s welfare,” said Fahrenholtz.

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development Clever Gatete said Rwanda would use the aid to create about 200,000 job opportunities annually.

He explained that the job opportunities to be off farm. They will be in areas of construction, power and water distribution, Hotel management, among others.

Some of the money will be used to renovate different Technical Institutions and the funds will be put to use in a period of one year.

Rwanda has so far received aid worth €60 Million from Germany in 2013. Germany and Rwanda have maintained a great relationship since 1979. Germany was the first country donate aid after the 1994 in Rwanda.
