Rwanda receives ICGLR elections observers

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) has already sent the observers for the upcoming Parliamentary elections set for the 16th-18th September 2013.


These observers will ensure if the elections were democratic and good governance as the announcement from ICGLR states. The announcement states “the observers will follow-up the election event, before and after the voting. The team will observe if the elections were democratic according to the ICGLR standards of democracy and good governance.”

The parliamentarians and senators from ICGLR say they are going to have discussions with the National Electoral Commission, Political Parties to learn the preparation and the hindrances of these elections.


The ICGLR team will visit the electoral zones in all provinces of Rwanda. After the elections, this team will put together and discuss the electoral report through the press conferences before, during and after the elections.


The ICGLR team is made up of representatives of Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda, South and North Sudan each with one member and 2 from the ICGLR Secretariat.


  ICGLR is made up of 12 countries of Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, the Republic of Central Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo Republic, Rwanda, South and North Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
